MEW Machines

Egg Tray Making Machine in South Africa

Paper machinery

MEW Machines builds paper egg tray making machines in Jaipur, India, and ships them to South Africa through Durban. Our semi-automatic lines make 900 to 3,000 trays per hour, and they are ready to ship 65 to 120 days after you confirm the order, depending on the model.

Every line runs on waste paper and cardboard, and on South Africa’s 400V, 50Hz three-phase supply.

Egg tray machine models and output

Model Output (trays/hour) Power (kW) Ready to ship
Semi-automatic, small 900 45 65 days
Semi-automatic, medium 1,500 35–50 90 days
Semi-automatic, large 3,000 60 120 days

All three models run on waste paper. Capacity is built to order, so if your target output isn’t listed, send it to us and we will size the line.

What’s in a complete egg tray plant

An egg tray plant turns waste paper into pulp, forms it into trays, then dries them. A MEW line has four stages:

  1. Pulping: The hydro pulper breaks waste paper and cardboard into an even fibre slurry.
  2. Mixing: The slurry tank mixer keeps the slurry evenly mixed, so every tray has the same fibre spread.
  3. Forming: The 1×3 molding machine vacuum-forms the pulp on the moulds and transfers the wet trays out.
  4. Drying: the wet trays are sun-dried or dried in a dryer before stacking and baling. We suggest the right option for your location and output.

Change the moulds and the same line can make fruit trays, cup carriers and other molded pulp packaging.

What decides the cost of an egg tray line

We quote every line to your output, so we don’t publish a fixed price. Four things decide the cost:

  • Output: trays per hour decides the number of moulds and the size of the pulper.
  • Automation: semi-automatic lines need more workers; fully automatic lines cost more but need fewer.
  • Drying: sun drying is cheapest but depends on weather; a dryer adds cost and gives steady output.
  • Moulds: extra moulds for other products (fruit trays, cup carriers) are quoted separately.

Send us your target output and your town in South Africa. We will reply with a machine list, a layout and a quotation. Your quotation is ex-works Jaipur; South African import duty, VAT, clearing and inland transport are handled by your clearing agent.

Raw material and utilities

  • Raw material: old newspapers, cardboard boxes (old corrugated containers) and office waste paper.
  • Water: about 1–2 m³ per hour on the 1,500 trays/hour model.
  • Power: South Africa supplies 230V single-phase and 400V three-phase at 50Hz. India uses the same 50Hz frequency, so our standard motors run on your supply without conversion.

FAQ

How much does an egg tray making machine cost in South Africa?

It depends on output, automation, the dryer and the moulds, so we quote each line separately. Send us your target output in trays per hour and we will reply with a quotation.

How many egg trays can one machine make per hour?

Our standard models make 900, 1,500 or 3,000 trays per hour. We can size a line for a higher output.

Do I need a dryer?

Not always. Small plants often sun-dry trays, but a dryer gives steady output through winter and rainy days. We will suggest the right option for your location and capacity.

Can the same machine make other products?

Yes. With different moulds, the same line makes fruit trays, cup carriers and other molded pulp packaging.

Will the machine run on South African power?

Yes. It runs on 400V three-phase, 50Hz, the same frequency we use in India.

How long does delivery to Durban take?

About 65–120 days to manufacture, depending on the model, plus sea transit to Durban.
