Setting up an egg tray unit in the UAE
Most buyers set up in an industrial area or a free zone, where land, power connections and a manufacturing licence are easier to arrange. Before you order, check three things with your landlord or licensing authority:
- Floor and yard space: the forming line is compact, but drying needs room. Sun drying needs a shaded, ventilated yard; a dryer needs covered floor space instead.
- Power: a three-phase 400V connection sized for the model you choose (see the table above).
- Water and drainage: about 1–2 m³ of water per hour on the 1,500 trays/hour model, with a drain or settling tank for process water.
We send a layout with your quotation, so you can share it with the landlord and your electrician before you sign.
What goes into the line
- Pulping: the hydro pulper turns cardboard and newspaper into fibre slurry.
- Mixing: the slurry tank mixer keeps the consistency even.
- Forming: the 1×3 molding machine vacuum-forms the trays.
- Drying: trays are sun-dried or dried in a dryer, then stacked and baled.
Raw material: cardboard is easy to find
Egg trays are made from the cheapest grades of waste paper: old cardboard boxes, newspapers and office paper. The UAE’s retail, warehousing and logistics sectors produce large volumes of used cardboard, and recyclers in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi sell it baled. A 1,500 trays/hour line needs a steady supply, so line up a recycler before the machine arrives.
Sun drying or a dryer?
From October to April, sun drying works well across the UAE. In the humid summer months on the coast, trays dry slowly and output drops. Plants that supply poultry farms every day, or run the 3,000 trays/hour model, usually choose a dryer so output doesn’t depend on the weather.
More than egg trays
With different moulds, the same line makes fruit trays, cup carriers and other molded pulp packaging. Since January 2026 the UAE has banned many single-use plastic products, including plates, cutlery, cups and lids and foam food containers, which has grown demand for molded fibre. What decides the cost of an egg tray line
We quote every line to your output, so we don’t publish a fixed price. Output, automation, the dryer and extra moulds decide the cost. Your quotation is ex-works Jaipur; UAE customs duty, VAT, clearing and inland transport are handled by your clearing agent.
